For the “Butterbrot und Bier” event of the DAAD in Tokyo we designed a mini architecture made out of cardboard and based on the Penrose tilling. A combination of two rhombuses creates a crystal like pattern. We used this pattern as a graphical grid to overlay the space. A few tiles were extruded to form a buffet. They can also be seen as a small city model with greenery on top. But actually these roof gardens were salads for guests. Instead of having one large table for the buffet, we spread it all over the space, so that one could move around easily and be always in proximity to bread and butter.
